Sign-In Procedure- Parents must properly sign their child into school and out of school in the forms provided each day. Each child must arrive under the supervision of the parent or authorized person, and be properly signed in before the school will assume responsibility for that child. Likewise, once the child has been signed out by the parent or authorized person and leaves under the parent's or authorized person's supervision, the parent becomes responsible for the child. Only the people listed on the registration card as having the parent's permission to pick up the child will be allowed to remove him/her from the school. No one under the age of 18 years of age shall be authorized to pick up a child unless that person is the parent. Please notify the school if one of the persons listed will be picking up your child on any particular day. Parents are responsible for advising those who may bring or pick up the child of the sign-in and out procedure. Please let Kim know if you wish to add or take off a person authorized to pick up your child.

Immunizations- Each child must have submitted a completed immunization record prior to admission. Each child must have the required injections of diptheria/tetanus, polio, and measles, mumps, HIB, and rubella vaccines. Exceptions may be made when the child's physician provides a signed statement recommending delay or omission of the immunizations, or if the parent or guardian claims a religious exemption.

Absence Policy- Please call us if your child will be absent, a.s.a.p.. Rainbow Garden does not reimburse for days a child misses due to illness or vacation. When possible we may be able to trade a day if there is an absence on another particular day. Please speak to Kim directly about trades.

Late Arrivals- Please call if you anticipate arriving after 9:30 a.m.. It is important for us to know how many children will be attending in order for us to plan activities and meals.

Sickness Policies- Please do not bring your child in sick. We know it is hard to maintain a healthy child and get to work on a regular basis, but it is important to the school that we keep a healthy environment. Please don't bring your child to school if he/she has:
  1. A temperature above 101.5 degrees
  2. Persistent diarrhea
  3. Persistent vomiting
  4. Severe cough
  5. Yellow color to skin or eyes
  6. Skin or eye lesions or rashes that are severely weeping or pus filled.
  7. Stiff neck and headache
  8. Difficult breathing or wheezing
  9. Complaints of severe pain.
Please know that as providers we may not admit a child to school if any of the above symptoms are noticed or mentioned. Nor shall the child be admitted if diagnosed as having a child care retractable disease as outlined by the Health Division.

Head Lice policy- Please check your child's head once a day for head lice. Small nits are hard to see and can hatch overnight. If your child has head lice they will not be able to attend school until all the nits are gone. Please out of respect for the entire Rainbow Garden Community do not bring your child to school if you know your child has either lice or nits. We will also be checking heads on a daily basis. If we do find lice or nits on your child's head we will contact you and ask you to come and pick them up immediately.

Lateness Policy- This policy has been brought to attention due to consistent lateness by parents picking up their children either at the half-day time of 12:30p.m. or at the end of the day at 5:30 p.m. Regular scheduled morning children cannot be dropped off unless there are less than 12 children in the Rainbow Garden care. If this policy isn't clear please speak to Kim about it and she will explain it more clearly. You may be causing another parent to be late because of your tardiness. Please be on time daily as everyone in the school is greatly effected. Charges will be charged to those who are consistently late picking-up. This has become an increasing problem. Try to be 10 minutes early to gather your child and their belongings. We would appreciate it if everyone could make their departures promptly by 5:30 PM. If you come to pick up your child later than 5:30 PM there will be a charge of $5.00. If late pick-ups occur more than twice in a month there will be a $10.00 charge each time. The charges will appear on your bill. We understand there are circumstances when scheduling conflicts occur. We are not inflexible in cases of emergency, however, this new policy is necessary.

A late payment policy- We have been experiencing difficulty in obtaining payments in a timely manner. Any payments made after the 7th of the month will experience a $5.00 fee per day. We apologize for having to implement a policy such as this but your child's needs are best met when the school has adequate financial support.

Cancellation policy- We need to have at least two weeks notice of any cancellation or schedule change of child care for your child. A month notice would be highly appreciated. We need to know this in order to fill spots promptly. Cancellation without due notice leaves us with empty spots. The financial status of this operation relies on the full status of the school. Your child's needs are best met when the school has adequate financial support.

Gymnastic's payments- Gymnastic lesson's payments are also due by the 7th of the month. We have been very relaxed about this in the past but feel it is important that the National Academy for Artistic Gymnastics is comfortable doing business with us. (Make checks payable to N.A.A.G.) We will no longer be offering these classes June through August.

Swimming payments- Swimming lessons payments are due by registration. If you do not pay by that date your child can not attend. (Make checks payable to Kim McLaughlin or pay cash.)

Parent/ teacher conferences- As part of advocating parents awareness of their developing child we offer conferences in order to update you on your child's progress. Conferences are scheduled in the Fall and Spring. Sign-up sheets will be available at this time. Conferences are available anytime during the year at the request of parents. We gladly schedule these when it is convenient to parents and teachers involved. We believe that parental involvement is key in the education of young children.

Field trips- As part of our program field trips involving transportation away from school may be planned during the year. Parents and teachers may drive their insured vehicles equipped with seat belts and car seats. Staff members will accompany the group. Parents will be notified in advance of particular plans for each trip. Parental permission will be requested before each field trip.

Clothing- Dress your child in play clothes. Please bring your child in clothes you do not mind getting dirty. We are not responsible for paint, mud, food, or bowel accidents staining their clothes. Do not dress your child in clothing you would like not to get damaged. Also make sure your child's clothes keep them warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Please keep extra clothes in their cubbies in case of temperature changes and accidents.
LABEL ALL CLOTHING BROUGHT INTO THE SCHOOL. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST CLOTHING.

Toys from home- Children may bring toys from home to share, or for rest-time. Sharing time is during free play in the morning, (7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.), and at circle time. Stuffed animals, one a day, may be brought for the purpose of having something soft and familiar to rest with at rest-time. All toys from home will be kept in their cubbies until the proper time of day.
Please remember that super hero toys, play weapons or toys that promote violent behaviors will not be accepted as proper sharing toys. We at Rainbow Garden do not believe at anytime that weapons are acceptable toys for children.
top of page

Sharing time- Children may bring in a toy from home to share during circle any day. That toy must begin with the letter of the week that we are studying. We also strongly encourage children to bring books from home to share during story circle. We ask that the book reflect the theme we are studying, but this is not necessary.
